Hanuman – The Monkey God..

Hi ! In today’s special Post I am pleased to share a nice stamp from Canada which appears like our Hindu God "Hanuman " . The nice Canadian stamp shown here depicts the "monkey king" from the famous Chinese legend "Adventure of Monkey King – Journey to the West". Our distinguished member Dr Hemant Kulkarni gives details about it… Hope you will enjoy reading it….This is all for Today…..Till Next Post….Have a Nice Time !!

hnauman

On October 13, 1970 Canada and People's Republic of China, following 22 months of negotiations in Stockholm established diplomatic relations. Since more than one million Chinese live in Canada, it issues wonderful Philatelic items as a tribute to Lunar Year that's based on 'Animal' signs -quite popular for Asians in particular. Here's one that was issued in 2004 as 'Year Of The Monkey' without a reference to Hanuman for the obvious reason. The stamp itself has been unique in the sense that it is embossed .

To be issued on 27 October 2009

As soon as the winter snows arrive, kids race outside for a snowball fight, to ice-skate, go sledging, build huge snowmen or make angels in the snow. Whether you're actually a kid or just a child at heart, there's always plenty to do in the snow. .These stamps feature examples of the things you can get up to when snow covers the land like a soft white blanket

Rohtang Pass (Tibetan: Rohtang La) (altitude 13,051 ft (3,978 m)), is a high mountain pass on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas some 51 km (32 mi) from Manali. It connects the Kull Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys of Himachal Pradesh. The pass provides a natural divide between the sub-humid/humid Kullu Valley with a primarily Hindu culture (in the south), and the arid/semi-arid high-altitude Lahaul and Spiti valleys with a Buddhist culture (in the north). The pass lies on the watershed between the Chenab and Beas Basins. On the southern side of this pass, the Beas River emerges from underground and flows southward and on its northern side, the Chandra River, a source stream of the river Chenab, flows westward.

USPS rarely issues FDCs in this size (called legal size, 9.5 x 4.1 inches), let aside it's not even known to print official cache's that are typically found on the left hand side of the envelope that complements the theme of a stamp. Even the professionally released FDCs usually measure 6.5 x 3.5 inches in size but with outstanding cache's that are popular among the Philatelists, including for these stamps. It is, therefore that these USPS official FDCs have become the most sought after FDCs around the world. What you won't notice strikingly would be the usage of GOLDEN print on the protection sleeves of each FDC and the cover itself, not to mention such wonderful designs of the stamps and the cache's too. These were issued in a limited number and got sold out in hurry .
