Wedding Wednesday: April Brides

Time to review your list of favorite wedding dresses - April is surprisingly well stocked with excellent designs!

April 9, 1953
This gown is rather fluffy, I think, but I'll always have a soft spot for a bride that busts out two tiaras on her big day.

April 9, 2005
One of my favorite royal documentaries is about Windsor Castle, and it features some interesting behind-the-scenes looks at the prep for this one. Especially fascinating since they had to delay by one day due to the funeral of Pope John Paul II!

Crown Prince Akihito of Japan and Michiko Shoda
April 10, 1959
A little variety for you, in the traditional dress of the current Emperor and Empress. As has been traditional for Japanese imperial weddings, they later changed to more Western attire for the next portion of the wedding celebrations.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of Dubai and Princess Haya bint Al Hussein of Jordan
April 10, 2004
Our horse racing Ascot friends! Haya is the daughter of King Hussein (see below) and his third wife, Alia. She's a junior wife to the Sheikh - his senior wife is Sheikha Hind.

April 12, 2003
One of my personal favorites - just so lovely.

King Hussein of Jordan and Sharifa Dina bint 'Abdu'l-Hamid
April 18, 1955
The first of Hussein's four marriages, this is largely thought of as an arranged marriage - the groom was just 19 years old and was already king - and it resulted in divorce two years later.

April 18 & 19, 1956
One of the gowns that honestly earns its "iconic" title, I think.

April 24, 1963
Lace from head to toe, but carried by the constantly elegant Alexandra.

April 24, 2004
BOWS. That's all, really.

April 26, 1923
Another classic 1920s gown - this one, not so much a win for this particular bride, I think.

Princess Irene of the Netherlands and Prince Carlos Hugo of Bourbon-Parma
April 29, 1964
Coming soon to a blog near you, this one will be.

You forgot all about this one, didn't you? Lucky I'm here to remind you. Lolzzz.

Which one is your favorite?
