Cocoa Scented stamps from Liberia..

cocoa

The African nation of Liberia will issue two sheets of chocolate themed postage stamps commemorating one of their leading exports, cocoa. Postage stamps on the first sheet are designed to appear as blocks of chocolate in an unwrapped candy bar, while the second sheet portrays a box of truffles–each stamp depicting a different gourmet confection. Both sheets are cocoa scented.

These attractive designs strive to educate philatelists in the process of making this beloved dessert, from harvesting the beans to packaging chocolate products. The incorporation of a quick response (QR) barcode supplies additional information on this process and gives the stamps a modern touch.

The QR code can be scanned by most smart phones and read with a built-in decoding program which will reveal a document entitled, “From Bean to Bar: The Making of Chocolate.” Each sheet features 9 stamps, and will be on sale at post offices throughout Liberia and through stamp dealers worldwide.

Pos Malaysia to recall, re-issue Value stamps

18 June 2011

WITH reference to “Group angry that Tamil not used in first day covers” (The Star Online, June 15), we acknowlege that the words featured in the stamp, depicting Kesyukuran (Thankfulness), included English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Hindi.

Pos Malaysia would like to clarify that the inclusion of the Hindi word featured in the stamp depicting Kesyukuran was an inadvertent error on the part of the issuing committee.

Therefore, Pos Malaysia will be recalling all the Nilai-Nilai Murni (Values) stamps and will reissue the stamps to include the Tamil word for Kesyukuran.

Tamil Nesan reported that the Taiping Tamilar Sangam had voiced dissatisfaction over Pos Malaysia Berhad's failure to include Tamil in its recent release of first day covers promoting noble human values. Its president M.S. Mayadevan said that he was surprised that one of the 10 stamps released had the words terima kasih in Bahasa Malaysia and the same word in other languages like English, Chinese and Hindi but not a single word in Tamil.

He said that Pos Malaysia should have accorded proper recognition to the role of Tamil. He urged MIC to highlight the matter.

Stamps on Virtues from Malaysia..

Hi ! Here is a very beautiful set of stamps to be issued soon featuring virtues of Life. Pos Malaysia will issue a set of 10 stamps depicting “Virtues (Nilai Nilai Murni)” on June 13, 2011. All the Ten stamps are in 60 sen denomination and symbolically depict virtues of love, hard working, courteous, mutual respect, independent, awareness, kind hearted, thankful, living in harmony and integrity. The stamp featuring “Thankful” is very special as the the word “Thank you” is written in seven languages (including Hindi and Sanskrit) as Malaysia being a multicultural country composing of Malays, Chinese, Indians and Eurasians, and as well as tribal communities .

The stamps are so beautiful and featuring the true meaning of life in the simplest form. I just love these and stamps find them wonderful as all the stamps have been featured in best format on a nice colorful sheetlet. This is all for today…Till next Post ………Have a Nice Time !!

New Stamp from US…

kansasa

Date of Issue – 27 January 2011

Kansas Statehood

The 150th anniversary of Kansas statehood is commemorated with the issuance of this stamp. Kansas is believed to be named after the Kansas River, which bears the name of the Kansa, one of several Native American tribes in the region prior to European settlement. Kansas became the 34th state of US on Jan. 29, 1861.

This stamp is a symbolic artistic snapshot of Kansas that encapsulates many of the state’s most prominent features: history, industry, agriculture, and pioneering ingenuity.

In the foreground stands a type of efficient windmill pioneered in America during the mid-19th century, first made of wood but later out of metal (like the one shown on this stamp) and fitted with a tail, like a weather vane, to change the direction of the wheel relative to the wind.

In the background stand five modern wind turbines that demonstrate continuity and the forward-looking nature of the modern Kansas economy. Below and behind the windmills is the Kansas landscape, with stylized bands of color implying the varying topography of the state. A golden band suggests the undulating plains of western Kansas and implying statewide prosperity in agriculture, while a green band hints at the forests and hills of eastern Kansas.
