Hi !!

Here is a set of souvenir sheets with rainbow strips issued by Polish Post to commemorate great Football event EURO 2012 Football Tournament. Poland and Ukraine are the joints hosts of this big Football Tournament. Stamps are just fantastic and going to be fit in my Rainbow collection…So just waiting for these wonderful FDCs from my friends in Poland and certainly I would send them beautiful covers from India or stamps and covers of their own choice  !!

The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2012, is the 14th European Championship for national football teams organised by UEFA. The final tournament is being hosted by Poland and Ukraine between 8 June and 1 July 2012. It is the first time that either nation has hosted the tournament. This bid was chosen by UEFA's Executive Committee in 2007.

The final tournament features 16 nations, the last European Championship to do so (from Euro 2016 onward, there will be 24 finalists). Qualification was contested by 51 nations between August 2010 and November 2011 to join the two host nations in the tournament. The winner of the tournament gains automatic entry to the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup hosted by Brazil.

New Stamps on Mother Teresa

Hi ! Here are some recent stamps on Mother Teresa, issued to commemorate her Birth centenary . The stamp shown above was issued on 12 August by German Post. Austria will issue a commemorative stamp on 26 August. France has already issued a stamp on Mother Teresa. It would have been very nice if India Post also issues this year a postage stamp on Mother Teresa in celebration of her Birth Centenary. I received some new covers from my friends recently. I am giving them below. My thanks to Mr Shrikant Parikh for today’s Post . As the FIFA world cup has got kicked off , it is inevitable to forget the legendary Brazilian Footballer and the Uncrowned King of the game, PELE !

By virtue of service in Air India , I had an opportunity to meet the legend when he had an overnight halt in Centaur, on 27th Jan 1976.I had taken his autograph, a photo with him while taking the autograph and finally a cup of coffee with a 15 min chat with him prior his departure. I cannot forget the most fortunate shake hand I had with him before his going to the aircraft.Almost a dream like thing for me, who does not know more or anything about football,except it is being played by feet..That was the most precious and unforgettable moment of my life of 55 years of autograph collection.
