Czech Republic post issued a postage stamp featuring Roses on 27 Oct 2011. The stamps have an additional coupon with architectural design. The presentation of Roses on the stamp is extraordinary . It’s a wonderful stamp for Rose Theme collectors. The stamp identified with the letter E ( as shown on above stamp) corresponding to the price of priority Ordinary Item up to 20 grams, international service - European countries, (current price according to the Price List of Basic Postal Services: CZK 20).
Print sheets
9 stamps + 12 coupons
Part of the volume is printed with empty coupons for additional prints ordered by customers.
The stamp, inspired by Seifert's verses about Prague, is a symbol of his most beloved flower, the rose, and his most beloved city, Prague.
The graphic composition is centered around the astronomical tower of the Clementinum with the statue of Atlant, with the Church of Our Lady before Týn and other historical dominants of Prague in the background.
The coupon in the right-hand border is decorated with an architectural detail; the other 11 coupons designed for the day of issue bear tiny motifs based on the stamp artwork.
Originally issued in 2003 with a CZK 6.40 face value, the stamp is now coming with redesigned colours and face value replaced with a letter.

Eastern India Philatelists’ Association organized a philatelic workshop in Mother Public School, Bhubaneshwar on 17th December 2011. This workshop is a part of 1st Odisha Stamp Mela 2012 to be held at Bhubneshwar on 7 & 8 January 2012 . The workshop was conducted by eminent members of EIPA, Mr SS Rath, Mr Anil Dhir, Dr Bibbhudatta Mishra and Mr Shakil Ahmed. A stamp design competition, Philatelic Quiz and written quiz competition was also organized . A large number of students from different schools of Bhubneshwar participated in different competitions.
A gala Stamp and Stationery Mela is going to be organized at Bhubaneswar, Odisha for the 1st time by Eastern India Philatelists’ Association, Bhubaneshwar.

San Marino issues a stamp today , commemorating first Men in space.The stamp of €0.50 portrays Gagarin set against the Soviet Union flag and the stamp of € 2.40 portrays Shepard set against the American flag. On 12 April 1961, Gagarin became the first human to travel into space .
The Soviet Union Aboard the Vostok 1 spaceship, the cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin (1934 –1968) makes the first orbital flight around the Earth and then lands in the Saratov region. He leaves the space capsule, which brought him safe and sound through the atmosphere, with an ejection seat and ends his historical space flight by parachute. The event marks the first milestone in the space conquest.
Americans take up the Russian challenge on the 5th May 1961. The cosmonaut Alan Bartlett Shepard (1923-1998) orbits aboard the Mercury spaceship called Freedom 7, reaching the height of 185 km and the speed of 8.262 km/h. He is the first American cosmonaut to travel into space.

Australia Post issued a set of five stamps to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). It features five paintings by Australian artists drawn from the collection of the NGV.

ATM Stamps “ Roses”
On September 27th 2010, Luxembourg issued a series of stamps featuring different types of roses. The "roses" sheet, made up of 10 self-adhesive stamps with ten different roses is the first sheet of stamps to be distributed by the automated teller machines of P & T Luxembourg. It is a European premiere!

1st column from top to bottom: Grand-Duc Adolphe de Luxembourg, Bordeaux, Prince Jean de Luxembourg, Mrs E.G. Hill, Souvenir de Maria de Zayas.

Hi ! Here are some beautiful stamps issued on the 27th of September by the Luxembourg Post featuring a series of stamps dedicated to the famous Luxembourgers . These stamps are very special in design as each stamp depicts the work of the concerned personality very dominantly and making the stamp very catchy and attractive. I highly appreciate the designers’ work . In fact such stamps cover two themes, one personality and the other, related work. Sometimes stamps with just picture of the person just don’t look special. In India we have a large number of stamps regularly issued on personalities every year if such ideas are taken, more attractive and beautiful stamps could be created. The series of personalities will be highly appreciated by the collectors. All these three stamps shown here are very nice and beautiful. But the stamp featuring famous writer Anne Beffort is wonderful in design….Famous building in background with a dominance of fountain pen signifying the personality as a great writer is just awesome !! Jean Soupert, born on 20 February 1834 in Dommeldange and died on 17 July 1910 in Limpertsberg, was a grower of roses.With Pierre Notting, also a nursery grower at Constantin Wilhelm in Luxembourg-Clausen, Jean Soupert launched, in 1855, their own new rose business, “Soupert & Notting” in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg. From 1856, the new roses developed: “Tour de Malakoff”, “La Noblesse” and “Duc de Constantine” (1857), achieved great success. Of the numerous medals won at international competitions in France, Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, United Kingdom, and the United States of America, 130 have been preserved in the numismatic section of the National Museum of History and Art in Luxembourg.
The Luxembourger racing cyclist Nicolas Frantz was born on 4 November 1899 in Mamer. In the course of his 12-years professional career (1923 to 1934) he got 60 victories.In 1929, Nicolas Frantz took fifth place in the Tour de France and won two stages. Frantz won Paris-Brussels in 1927 and Paris-Tours in 1929. He twice finished in the top three of the world championships. He later became the sports manager of Charly Gaul's first national team in the Tour de France.
Anne Beffort was born on 4 July 1880 in Neudorf to a family of 10 children. Anne Beffort participated in the creation of the first public school for young girls which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2010. Anne Beffort published numerous articles in the daily press and in Luxembourg magazines, sensitizing public opinion on French-Luxembourg cultural relations. In 1937, she was the co-founder of the Friends of the Victor Hugo House Association in Vianden. Since 2003 the "Anne Beffort" prize is awarded each year by the Town of Luxembourg to a person or organisation working in the domain of equal opportunity between men and women.Anne Beffort passed away in Davos in 1966 at the age of 86. Her ashes are kept at the Fetschenhof cemetery in Luxembourg.

Hi ! Today I spared sometime from my very busy schedule to write on my Blog. Here are some new and very nice stamps to be issued by Israel Post. The stamps are unique in design and printing technology.The stamps were manufactured with innovative laser etching and lacing technology as well as laser philatelic perforation. It is Israel – Austria Joint issue. I have another lovely souvenir leaf to share here, sent by my friend Dr Eli Moallem of Jerusalem. The sheet was issued on Israel’s Golden Jubilee. It features 50 Red Roses in the shape of Number 50 , a wonderful item in my Greeting Collection. Thank you very much Eli !…… for this beautiful Souvenir Leaf. These stamps show a portrait of Simon Wiesenthal in a frame in the form of the Star of David, applied using a special printing technology. The technique used in the production of this joint issue is a world premiere! The text elements on the stamp are in both German and Hebrew.
Simon Wiesenthal was an Austrian-Jewish architectural engineer and Holocaust survivor who became famous after World War II for his work as a Nazi hunter who pursued Nazi war criminals. His life motto was Justice not Vengeance.
The stamp depicts the declaration of the establishment of the state of Israel by David Ben-Gurion, Israeli leader and the first Prime Minister. He was a key figure in Israel independence and the establishment of a Jewish nationality and state in Israel after the Holocaust by which the Nazi's killed 6,000,000 Jews in Europe.

Hi ! I am back after short break…..Here is something very nice in Today’s Post…The year 2009 is being celebrated as the International Year of Astronomy. Many beautiful stamps are being issued on the subject of Space and Astronomy. I have received a nice article from our distinguished member Dr Satyendra Kumar Agrawal on “Mysteries of the Universe related to Rose”. I am also giving here some stamps with colorful pictures depicted on stamps issued for this Astronomical year. Dr Agarwal is a renowned philatelist and has specialized in the theme of Roses. He has won many prestigious awards in National and International Philatelic Exhibitions for his collection of Roses. Now he is working on a book “ Handbook of Rose Philately”. In fact the name of Dr Agarwal is synonymous with Roses.His research and work on Rose Philately has given a new meaning to the beauty of Roses. Rose in Space

Working on a chapter “UNUSUAL ROSES” for my Handbook of Rose Philately, I came across many Mysteries of the Universe related to Rose. The sight of these magnificent pictures is able to make anybody speechless every time looking at them. Man has a lot more to do to understand the mysteries of the Universe. The power that it possesses is way beyond man can ever imagined. A lifetime is not enough to consume every details of the universe from the very point of view of man. Year 2009 is marked as “Year of Astronomy” and many new issues on this subject are appearing in the market regularly. One may come across these pictures featured on Stamps or on Postal Stationeries. May be few references are already existing. I would be thankful if my fellow philatelist remembers me to get informed.
1. Red Rose Nebula or the Cat's Eye Nebula
This picture of the "Cat's Eye Nebula," taken on September 18, 1994, by the NASA Hubble Space Telescope is officially referred to as NGC 6543. Estimated to be 1,000 years old, the nebula is a visual "fossil record" of the dynamics and late evolution of a dying star. NGC 6543 is an exploding star 3,000 light-years away in the northern constellation Draco.
At present, a Guangdong astronomy lover He Jianguo took photo for the rose nebula with the astronomic telescope and digital camera in a quiet village of Gaoming Area, Foshan City. This nebula which was called the universal love flower looked like a blooming rose. It’s very magnificent. The rose nebula was hard to detect with the naked eye but could be seen using the long exposure of camera.
3. Spitzer Telescope Sends Rose for Valentine's Day
Out of the dark and dusty cosmos comes an unusual valentine -- a stellar nursery resembling a shimmering pink rosebud. This cluster of newborn stars, located 3,330 light-years away in the constellation Cepheus and spanning 10 light-years across, called a reflection nebula, was captured by state-of-the-art infrared detectors onboard NASA's new Spitzer Space Telescope, formerly known as the Space Infrared Telescope Facility. The rose tint comes from heated dust, the green from carbon monoxide.
4. Natural Rose
NGC 2244 - a star cluster embroiled in a reflection nebula spanning 55 light-years and most commonly called “The Rosette.” Located about 2500 light-years away, the galactic star cluster NGC 2244 heats the gas within the nebula to nearly 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit, causing it to emit light in a process similar to that of a fluorescent tube
5. Rosette Nebula (NGC 2237-2239, 2246)
A large emission nebula in the constellation Monoceros surrounding a cluster of about six hot, young O stars known as the Rosette Cluster (NGC 2244) whose radiation energizes the nebula and whose stellar winds have swept out a hollow at the center of the Rosette. The brightest parts of the nebula have their own NGC catalogue numbers.
Resembling a delicate rose floating in space, the nebula N11A is seen in a new light in a true-colour image taken by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. Fierce radiation from massive stars embedded at the centre of N11A illuminates the surrounding gas with a soft fluorescent glow.
7. Pink rose
The Rosette nebula is usually observed as a pink rose, coloured by the dominant reddish light which indicates that hydrogen atoms have been heated. We look down into the open rose and can see the hot stars responsible for the heating. This image taken at the Kitt Peak National Observatory of the Medusa nebula, known scientifically as Abell 21, is an old planetary nebula some 1,500 light-years away in the constellation Gemini. It is estimated to be over 4 light-years across. This image was taken on Oct 24th, 2008 at the Mayall telescope with the mosaic camera.
