Another Premature Issue in use

Recently we came across another premature issue which is already being used by the public. This issue, commemorating Shri Sheik Thambi Pavalar, was sheduled to be issued sometime in 2008. See the cancelled stamp! Another premature issue in a hexagonal shape on Aldabra Giant Tortoise which is also being circulated in philatelic market. Now it seems that the catalogue of premature issues will be released by some publication very soon and it will be made available to collectors as the number of such premature issues is increasing rapidly. It is highly surprising that the senior officials of India Post are not taking strong steps to check this malpractice. If this continues Indian Postal Department will lose its creditability in international philatelic market.

Two different Sizes and Different Words on Sai Baba Cancellation

Here is the image of two different sizes of cancellation and the different words (Saboori & Saburi) given in two different cancellations. It was closely observed by our distinguished reader Mr. Vinod Sabharwal of New Delhi and he has sent us its scan. Thanks a lot. Have a close look! It should be noted that a difference in the cancellation design of Madhubala was recently observed by Mr. Ajit Dash of Bhubaneshwar in which the curl of hair on Madhubala's forehead was missing on one of the cancellations. This is another example of lack of skill of the artists engaged in preparing the cancellation design. Moreover in this high tech world it should have not happened as with the use of computer it has become very easy to make standrdized size and precision in the design and make its copy. Why the variety of cancellations are given in different cities? It shows that India Post is still following the old pattern of working which is also visible with the fact that Indian cancellations are not fine and lack high quality touch.
