This is Speed Post Service or Slow Post Service of India Post ?????

This is just to draw the attention of all regarding Poor Speed Post service of India Post . I sent my exhibits for SINE, a national stamp exhibition   to Mr Madhukar Jhingan, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi from Bhuntar Sub Post Office Kullu on 31st October 2011. As per Speed Post  tracking record the article reached New Delhi on 2nd November. But it was not delivered to the addressee on 2nd November. In fact there was no transaction on 3rd and 4th November. On 5th November the article was bagged for Paschim Vihar PO and still it is doubtful whether it was delivered to the addressee today.

Is it a reliable service of which  India Post boasts of ????? Due to negligence of the Postal Department my exhibits could not reach the destination and it could not be displayed as the exhibition started from from 3rd  November 2011.

Who is responsible for this delay ….. ??? The concerned post office must give a clear explanation for this delay . Why was the article not delivered on the date it reached New Delhi. It was not sent either on 3rd or 4th November.   It caused  lot of inconvenience and  my exhibits  could not be displayed in the exhibition.

Being a philatelist I am highly disappointed that due to negligence and poor working of India Post my exhibits were deprived from participation in the exhibition….  What about if it was someone’s admit card for examination or interview letter for a job ??????  How India Post justifies its working ???

India’s first floating Post office on Dal Lake…

image

India’s first floating Post office was inaugurated in Sri Nagar by  Minister of State for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah on Monday. Now tourists to Jammu and Kashmir  have another attraction -- a floating post office on the Dal Lake in Srinagar, the first of its kind in the country.

After inauguration of the Post office

"This innovation by India Post will be a boon for the tourists visiting the lake," Pilot said in a statement. Besides offering normal services, the place will also have a philately museum and a shop that will sell postage stamps and other products.

"This is the first such post office in India. It has been made as a tourist focus post office on a huge house boat and will provide a unique and tourist-friendly service to the people of Kashmir and to tourists from across the world," John Samuel, the state's chief post master, told IANS.

Samuel also said that the special feature of this post office is that letters posted from here will carry a special design which will have the picturesque sceneries of Dal Lake and Srinagar city.
"These pictures will reach wherever these letters will be posted and will promote Kashmir as a tourist destination across the world," he said. Pilot also launched two special postal covers on the Dal Lake.

"It is a befitting tribute to the lake, which is one of the most famous and often quoted symbols of Kashmir, and often referred to as the crown of Kashmir," he said.
Pilot later launched a special mail van service from Srinagar to Shopian district. The postal department currently has 1,693 post offices in Jammu and Kashmir.
