Stamps on Music and Stories

Hi ! Here are the recent colorful Issues by Hungary on Music and stories. Both are very interesting themes and favourite subject of all as related with the best pastimes. The one shown above was issued to commemorate great Austrian composer (Franz) Joseph Haydn on 2 April 2009.Joseph Haydn was the first great master of Viennese classical music. The stamp design is a witty graphic composition using artistic skill to give a new function to the keys of a piano and the notes, thus raising a memorial in an individual visual message on the 200th anniversary of the death of Joseph Haydn. An unusual feature of the stamp issue is that every other row of stamps in the sheet is inverted. The another recent issue depicted below is related with the children's stories. The beautiful miniature sheet depicts the great story teller Elek Benedek and the heroes of his stories. Both the issues are fabulous and very attractive. It will be liked by all. This is all for today !.....Till Next Post ....Have a Nice Time !

Joseph Haydn
(Franz) Joseph Haydn (March 31, 1732 – May 31, 1809) was an Austrian composer. He was one of the most important, prolific and prominent composers of the classical period. He is often called the "Father of the Symphony" and "Father of the String Quartet" because of his important contributions to these genres. He was also instrumental in the development of the piano trio and in the evolution of sonata form.

A life-long resident of Austria, Haydn spent much of his career as a court musician for the wealthy Hungarian aristocratic Esterházy family on their remote estate. Isolated from other composers and trends in music until the later part of his long life, he was, as he put it, "forced to become original". At the time of his death, he was one of the most celebrated composers across Europe.Joseph Haydn was the brother of Michael Haydn, himself a highly regarded composer, and Johann Evangelist Haydn, a tenor. He was also a close friend of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and a teacher of Ludwig van Beethoven.

150th Anniversary of Elek Benedek's Birth
Hungary Post is marking the 150th anniversary of the "great story teller", Elek Benedek, by issuing a special miniature sheet. The sheet features a portrait of the writer and the heroes of some of his stories – Puss in Boots, the Three Little Pigs, and the Diamond Penny.
