The Crown Prince visits John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he previously studied, and meets with professors, the President of HRH the Crown Prince’s Scholarship Fund Gustav Christensen and Danish Harvard students.

Meeting with UNFPA

The Crown Princess participates in a meeting with vice executive directors Mari Simonen and Purnima Mane at UNFPA, the Population Fund of FN. The Crown Princess is a patron of UNFPA, which promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity.

Visit to Harlem Children’s Zone
1.30 pm
The Crown Princess visits The Harlem Children’s Zone to view how this no-profit organization works to strengthen the local community so that its children can stay on track through college and go on to the job market. The Harlem Children’s Zone has been called “one of the most ambitious social-service experiments of our time,” by the newspaper The New York Times.

Opening of American Scandinavian Foundation Centennial Exhibition

Together with the Nordic Heads of State the Crown Princess participates in the opening of the joint Nordic exhibition American-Scandinavian Foundation Centennial Exhibition “Luminous Modernism” at the occasion of the 100-year for ASF. Among others the Exhibition contains works by Edvard Munch and Vilhelm Hammershøi.

The Crown Prince Couple visits The National September 11 Memorial with Nordic Heads of State in remembrance to the ten-year after the attack on World Trade Center.

The Crown Prince Couple participates in business lunch with CEOs from Danish businesses with companies in the state of New Jersey and their business connections and clients. The Danish businesses are Maersk, Danish Crown, SAS, Leo Pharma, Novo Nordisk and Oticon.


Opening of Leo Pharma US headquarters

The Crown Prince Couple inaugurates Leo Pharma US headquarters in New Jersey. The Crown Princess gives a speech, and presents a donation from Leo Foundation to the American Skin Cancer Foundation.

The Crown Prince Couple attends the opening of the BIG Architectural Studio NYC, founded by the Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, who is chosen to construct an innovative and sustainable high-rise block in Manhattan.

The Crown Prince Couple is, together with the Heads of State from Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, guests of honour at a gala dinner at Hilton Hotel on the occasion of the 100-year for American Scandinavian Foundation.

Visit to New Nordic Cookout on Union Square Greenmarket

The Crown Prince Couple attends the event New Nordic Cookout at Union sq. Greenmarket, which introduces the New Yorkers to the new Nordic kitchen, where local, sustainable ingredients are used. The event will be led by the head chef René Redzepi from the world-famous Danish restaurant Noma, and the reputable Danish chefs Adam Aamann, Bo Bech and Claus Henriksen will present and prepare Nordic dishes with local sustainable ingredients. The event will be held in corporation with growNYC, a local non-profit organization, which works to create a green and sustainable New York.

The Crown Princess visits the non-profit organization Jacob Riis Settlement House in Queens. The organization was founded by the Danish-American social reformer Jacob Riis at the turn of the 19th century, and offers among others after-school programs, adult education classes, case management and civic engagement to children and adults.

The Crown Prince Couple inaugurates the partnership between Danish Team Online and Lifespire Inc, a service center for people with developmental disabilities. Team Online develops software equipment for providers assisting people with developmental disabilities.

The Crown Prince visits Mount Sinai Hospitals Cardiac facility in New York, where the Danish organization Radiometer presents and demonstrates equipment, which is specially developed to cardiac patients.

Visit to the Greenhouse Project at PS333, Manhattan School for Children

The Crown Princess attends the Greenhouse Project at Manhattan School for Children with the Danish head chef from Noma René Redzepi. The Greenhouse Project, which is an innovative way to grow vegetables without soil, is a spread concept on the roofs of the schools in New York City. The Greenhouse Project at PS333 has been established by a Danish woman. The Crown Princess views how René Redzepi together with the children and with inspiration from the New Nordic Cuisine harvests and prepares sustainable dishes and teaches about sustainable urban farming methods with emphasis on issues on global concern and efficient use of water and energy.

On National Food Day, the Crown Prince Couple participates in the opening of the Danish restaurant Aamanns/Copenhagen in Manhattan, the first Danish restaurant in Manhattan. The reputable chef’s vision is to create a piece of Denmark in Manhattan and to educate Americans about the Danish cuisine, culture, history and traditions.
