Hi ! In today's post I am giving here interesting information sent by our our distinguished member Mr Sundar L Bansal from New York. It is about the stamps featuring Sirepinski Triangles. The Sierpinski triangle, also called the Sierpinski gasket or the Sierpinski Sieve, is a fractal named after the Polish mathematician Wacław Sierpiński who described it in 1915. The stamp shown above is the Souvenir Sheet issued by Finland on 30 May 2000, featuring Science. It is a unique S.S having 3 stamps , all of different shapes and a hologram triangular label. The triangular stamp features children with molecular model. The second rhomboid stamp features man's face with DNA strand and the third square stamp shows man's face and Sierpinski triangles. First time any postal administration featured Sierpinski triangles. The hologram triangular label shows hologram of Sierpinski triangles. Read more about Sierpinski Triangles .
The second souvenir sheet shown below has been issued by Hong Kong on 14 May 2009 on the occasion of 23rd Asian International stamp Exhibition . A special scanner is also sold with the S.S.The stamp is printed with a special process of Lithography and Isograms. When the scanner is placed on the stamp and moved slightly, the hidden patterns and the words come out and can be seen clearly. The scanner is the small plastic sheet as shown in the picture. Well, these are very interesting and beautiful stamps. As the stamps are related with Science and Mathematics, The perforation on stamps have been given in the form of famous brain storming Chinese Puzzle. The seven pieces of stamps can be joined in numerous forms to make specific designs. Some of the designs have been featured on the Souvenir sheet. This is all for Today ..... Just try to make designs from the 7 pieces given on the S.S. and enjoy......Till Next Post....Have a Great Time !..
