Special Postcards with commemorative dates !!

Hi ! Here are some nice cards issued by Malta Post  to commemorate the special dates which have appeared once in a lifetime. It started from 1.1.2001 and released cards up to 8.8.8 and recently issued a special cover to commemorate 1234567...Numbers on 7 August 2009. Here are the last eight cards issued so far and the next would be released on 9.9.9. I am thankful to my friend Mr.Vasilik Zeljko from Croatia who sent me this nice info which I want to share with all of you here. In Club News,  a report on Stamp Fair which concluded in Bilaspur - Chhattisgarh yesterday, sent   by our distinguished member Mr Naresh Agarwal from Bilaspur. These  Cards issued by Malta Post are 192mm x 105mm postcards. The first issue was on 01.01.01. as a result of the identical digits in the date postmarks. They will continue to be issued in this format until the year 2012, when the 12th card, reading 12.12.12., will complete this series. Click Here

DAK TICKET MILAAN 2009 BILASPUR

Long awaited philatelic and numismatic fair Dak Ticket Milaan 2009,Bilaspur, organized by Chhattisgarh Philatelic Association, Bilaspur from 21st to 23rd August 2009 at Bilaspur has marked an imprint of remarkable hospitality and successfully given a message of love and brotherhood to the philatelic community not only in India but abroad too through the visiting stamp dealers from Bangladesh and Malaysia. A regular gathering of more than two hundred of philatelic dealers and renowned philatelists from all over India and abroad   lured the philatelic fragrance of this newly upcoming state, Chhattisgarh.

Shri Dipok Dey was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award 

Centrally located venue with two big halls, one for organizing functions and other for display and dealer booths; subsidized accommodation in the same hotel with other facilities  was the best service provided to the outside visitors/guests relieved them from the burden of local movement and carriage of baggage with full safety and security.

This three day fair saw the release of four beautifully designed stamp booklets and three covers (designed by Mr Atul Jain, Mr C.R. Andhare & Mr Pratap Thakur) highlighting social,cultural,religious heritage and wild life of Bilaspur Distt.. The material printed in limited quantity, was in heavy demand and was sold out within a short time. The booklets on Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Rudra Shiva, Talagaon; Digamber Jain Temple, Bilaspur & special cover on Mahatma Gandhi were released by Sri Dipok Dey, a renowned philatelist and stamp designer on 21st August 2009. The special cover on Rawat Naach was released by Dr. Kalicharan Yadav who gave international recognition to this traditional dance of Chhattisgarh and on Achankmar Forest by Mr. I.N.Singh, Conservator Forests, Chhattisgarh who enlightened the gathering with the importance and varied facets of their fields.

Good number of local enthusiasts, collectors, philatelists and numismatists visited the show. Local print and electronic media gave a huge coverage to the event and highly appreciated the efforts. Eminent philatelists like Sri Madhukar Jhingan ( New Delhi), Sri Madhukar Devgaonkar(Kolkata), Mr. Dhanajay Desai(Ahmadabad), Mr. Ashwani Dubey (Gorakhpur) and dealers like Sri P.C.Jaiswal (Kolkata ), Mr. Arun Bhattacharya (Kolkata), Mr. Ramteke (Numismatic dealer from Nagpur) had been honored for the work done by them in promotion and development of philately where as the Lifetime Achievement Award had been given to Sri Dipok Dey for the tremendous and continuous contribution and service to Indian philately during the last five decades.Mr. C.R. Andhare,President Chhattisgarh Philatelic Association too had been honored by Dealers Association from South India for the dedicated services given by him to promote philately in Chhattisgarh  State.

Except some shortcomings in exhibit display section due to damaged frames, rest of the show was well arranged and organized. All the visitors while highly applauding the efforts showed their deep interest in visiting the future shows of the association which produced a good number of national and international level philatelists.Philatelists coming from different states also got opportunity and spared time to visit and view the remarkable places around Bilaspur such as Crocodile Park, Rudra Shiva,Talagaon,Achanakmar century and holy Amarkantak,the origin of Holy Narmada River.

A beautifully written and designed book on philately for beginners written by Mrs. Sangeeta Devgaonkar of Kolkata was distributed freely to the visiting stamp collectors. A few complimentary copies of another excellent book on philatelic quiz by Sri Anil Dhir of Bhubaneswar also had been distributed. Philatelic Bureau, Bilaspur  had excellent sale on their booth. In all, the fair attracted many philatelists and numismatists  and stamped a great success and undoubtedly paved a way for new stamp and coin collectors in Chhattisgarh.
