It's Rocking !


Hi ! Here is a new stamp from Belarus issued on 12. January 2009. It depicts famous musician Vladimir Muliavin who was the founder and art director of Belarusian folk rock group “Pesnyary” prepared by the Publishing Centre “Marka” of the EUR “Belpochta”. The stamp, FDC and the cancellation all are beautifully designed.The stamp is in se-tenant design. One part shows the musician and other depicts the Music group.The cancellation depicts the guitar which is very beautiful and it is a nice item for Music collection. Music is the best form of emotional expression and it has the power to relax mind and soul. These nice philatelic items will be appreciated by all music lovers. Vladimir Muliavin
Born on 12 January 1941,Vladimir Muliavin was a prominent musician and composer, People's Artist of the USSR and Belarus, honoured art worker of Poland, founder and art director of Belarusian folk rock group “Pesnyary”. He was born in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg, Russia). Vladimir started playing the guitar at the age of 12.



The unique talent of Vladimir Muliavin realized in the work of the group“Pesnyary” opened a new epoch in Belarusian popart. In his beautiful songs the musical and poetic heritage of Belarus people acquired the modern sounding. The group “Pesnyary” was a pioneer of folk rock on Belarus stage and for a long time it was the most popular group of Belarus. “Pesnyary” recorded many interpretations of folk songs which are on modern lines nowadays. They also made some large musical performances in which they successfully united folk art and modern sounding. Vladimir Muliavin died on January 26, 2003 in an accident.
