India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp today on birth anniversary of famous Telgu writer Shri Tripuraneni Gopichand.

Tripuraneni Gopichand (8 September 1910 - 2 November 1962) was a Telugu short story writer, novelist, editor, essayist, playwright and film director. Gopichand's writings are remarkable for interplay of values, ideas and 'isms' - materialism, rationalism, existentialism, realism and humanism. He is especially celebrated for his second novel 'Asamardhuni Jeevayatra' (The Incompetent's Life Journey). This is the first psychological novel in Telugu literature. Gopichand's work Panditha Parameshwara Sastry Veelunama in 1963 was presented with the Sahitya Akademi Award - This was the first Telugu novel to win the award.
