Issue of ICMR coins of ` 5 denomination-"Circulatory Coins" The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation the following coins of ` 5 denomination, which shall conform to the following dimension, design and compositions, namely- SHAPE AND OUTSIDE DIAMETRE -Circular 23 millimeters
NUMBER OF SERRATIONS-----------100
METAL COMPOSITION-----------------Nickel Brass,Copper 75%,Zinc 20%,Nickel 5%

Design


OBVERSE
The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सयमेव जयते " inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत " in Hindi and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the denominational value "` 5" in International Numerals below the Lion Capitol.
REVERSE
The face of the coin shall bear the emblem of Indian Council Medical Research with the logo "परीय कािरणोिह कुशलाभवित" inscribed below it. There will be three growing lines on the left and right side of the emblem and the year "1911-2011" shall be shown below the logo. The words "भारतीय आयुिवर्ज्ञान अनुसंधान पिरष" and below that "शतादी वषर् CENTENARY YEAR" will be flanked on the upper periphery and the words "INDIAN COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESERCH" on the lower periphery. These coins are legal tender as provided in the Indian Coinage Act,1906. The existing coins in this denomination shall also continue to
be legal tender.

Issue of `100 Banknotes with "R" inset letter incorporation of Rupee symbol (`) The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue `100 denomination Banknotes with "R" inset letter incorporating " `" symbol, in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 bearing the signature of Dr. D. Subbarao, Governor , Reserve Bank of India, and the year of printing on the reverse of the Banknote. The design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the Banknotes of `100 in Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 issued earlier. All the Banknotes in the denomination of `100 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.
