New stamps on “Year of the Dragon”

The Philippine Postal Corporation recently came up with the New Year 2012: “Year Of The Dragon” stamps, which was issued last December 5, 2011. It is classified as a “Special” kind of issue with denominations of P 7.00 and P 30.00 and a Miniature sheet The design for the Se-tenant Pair shows the Philpost Chinese characters series depicting the Year of the Dragon.

Thailand Post issued a stamp  Year of Dragon. The Dragon is one of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar, and the only animal that is legendary. The Dragon is associated with potent and auspicious powers, particularly control over water, rainfall, hurricane, and floods. The dragon is also a symbol of power, strength, and good luck. With this, the Emperor of China usually uses the dragon as a symbol of his imperial power.
